Dix Farms Dried Mulato Peppers, 1 lb

Dix Farms Dried Mulato Peppers are a chef-driven specialty, sourced with a focus on authentic flavor and culinary tradition. The mulato pepper, a staple in Mexican cuisine, is known for its deep, complex character and subtle smokiness. Grown and selected for BoxNCase’s exclusive line, these peppers are carefully dried to preserve their rich, earthy essence and distinctive chocolate-brown hue. Each batch is curated for chefs and home cooks who seek nuanced flavors that go beyond the ordinary.

When you open a bag of these dried mulato peppers, you’ll notice their inviting aroma—notes of dried fruit, mild cocoa, and a gentle warmth that hints at their versatility. The texture is supple yet firm, making them ideal for rehydrating in hot water or toasting briefly to coax out even more fragrance. Once softened, mulato peppers can be blended into traditional moles, enchilada sauces, or pureed into soups and stews. Their mild heat and complex flavor profile make them a cornerstone in building depth and balance in a wide range of recipes.

For a memorable meal, try using Dix Farms Dried Mulato Peppers in a classic Oaxacan mole or as the base for a rich chili sauce to pair with roasted meats or grilled vegetables. Their subtle sweetness also works beautifully in bean dishes or layered into casseroles. These peppers are a must-have for anyone looking to elevate their spice pantry with authentic, chef-selected ingredients.
