Dix Farms Kabocha Squash, 40 lb

Dix Farms brings the prized kabocha squash to discerning kitchens, offering a premium selection that celebrates the vibrant flavors and culinary versatility of this Japanese staple. Sourced with a chef’s eye for quality, each kabocha is chosen for its deep green rind and dense, sunset-orange flesh, making it a favorite among gourmets and professional chefs alike. The 40 lb bulk format is ideal for foodservice, farm-to-table restaurants, or dedicated home cooks who appreciate cooking with the freshest produce in generous quantities.

The kabocha squash is renowned for its velvety texture and naturally sweet, nutty flavor, reminiscent of chestnut and pumpkin. When roasted, its flesh becomes creamy and rich, lending itself beautifully to soups, purees, tempura, or even desserts. Its edible skin softens during cooking, adding an earthy note and rustic charm to any dish. Whether cubed and simmered in a fragrant curry, sliced and oven-roasted with herbs, or blended into a silken bisque, the kabocha squash elevates both traditional and modern recipes.

For a simple yet elegant preparation, roast wedges of kabocha squash with olive oil, sea salt, and a sprinkle of fresh thyme, then serve as a warm side to grilled meats or toss into a salad with farro and goat cheese. This versatile squash also pairs beautifully with miso, ginger, and citrus, making it a star ingredient in both savory and sweet culinary creations.
