This "ancient grain" is made with whole wheat that is cleaned, parboiled, dried, ground into particles, and sifted into distinct sizes. Our Half Cut Traditional Bulgur has an extra-large grind, making it an ideal component for soups, pilafs, side dishes and specialty recipes that call for the textural heartiness of #5 bulgur. Because bulgur is always parboiled, it cooks faster than rice. To amplify the inherent nutty flavor profile of our half cut bulgur, toast the grains in butter for 5 minutes before adding your cooking liquid. For a traditional bulgur pilaf, sauté orzo or broken vermicelli noodles along with the butter and bulgur mixture. Bulgur wheat is a rich source of fiber, protein and naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins, iron, phosphorus and manganese.
